YACHT - Utopia / Dystopia (The Earth is on Fire)

Mercedes - Airwave Hustler

I came across this artist when i was visiting the Eye Industries website earlier tonight. She is the new UK pop sensation who is sure to draw a crowd of anxious djs and producers ready to remix the fux out of her voice. her style is what I imagined MIA to do with her third album…instead she went postal and political and well…weird. Mercedes is a refreshing change to female MC’s having the freshness of Kid Sister and the swagger of Uffie. Im sure she will do well in the Pop charts bc if you take a look at the trends now the electronic hip hop indie artist are doing well right now. Its only a matter of time before smaller record labels like Hard Candy explode with chart topping independent basement artist.

Mercedes

I know I say this a lot but the UK is booming with fresh new talent. And for such a small island I think the US has to pick up the slack and start taking notes!

I am personally a fan of the Tonka Hypermodern Disco Mix. Check it out!

The Bloody Beetroots Death Crew 77 - New Noise

LCD Soundsystem - Home

Did i mention that I had a REALLY good time seeing LCD play at Virginfest? Standing 15 feet away with the coolest girl and her slightly cooler dad dancing are asses off! This song brings back a good feeling of riding my perfect high all day! It was prolly right after this song I turned to my friend and said” damn…we should have rolled three!”. Oh well…It was amazing either way. And this video I pretty sweet..I mean who doesn’t like robots?

LCD Soundsystem - I Can Change

Im posting this video bc I cant get this song out of my head. After seeing LCD explode on the Merriweather stage for the VirginFest this past weekend I have grown a new found love for James Murphy. This multi-instrumentalist has transcended his previous albums and continues to impress the masses. Rumors have it that “This is Happening” will be LCD Soundsystems last album…but I just dont see that happening.

Lissie - Persuit of Happiness (Kid Cudi cover)

Lissie is an amazing artist wise beyond her years. She has the ability to take a pop song and find the roots of the lyrics and rock them out in a way that is completely Lissie. I love that she chugs from a tequila bottle and drinks red stripe on stage. She is exactly the type of woman i want to marry!

Anyways check out her full album “Catching a Tiger”.

Yoooo! Im back! I have been MIA for a minute but I have tons of new music and videos to post ahead. Im actually running out of the door but I wanted to post this video from Cinnamon Chasers called Luv Deluxe. I havent had a chance to confirm and look it up but I’m pretty sure it won best music video at SXSW. Check it out!

Circa Survive - Get Out (Safe Camp Sessions)

This is just an acoustic version of “get Out” that come with the deluxe version of the album.

Circa Survive - Get Out

I first heard/saw Circa Survive at the Warped Tour a while back. The first thing I said to my friend was “Do you think that chick lead singer is hot?” Only to get a little closer to the stage and realized this chicks name is Anthony Green, former lead singer of Saosin. I was a fan of Saosin so i knew that this more melodic version, Circa Survive would keep me interested. I bought the album “On Letting Go” at the Warped Tour and mostly bought it because the album art was so awesome! “On Letting Go” debuted on the Billboard 200 at #24. And it was well deserved. I think I listened to that album for about 3 months straight which is hard to do because I have musical ADD.

On Letting Go

With songs like “Get Out” And “Imaginary Enemy”, Circa Survives newest album, “Blue Sky Noise” is sure to do well. With its 4/20 debut is was #11 on the Billboard 200. I am hoping that they will get more exposure now that have left Equal Vision Records. Their contract ended last year and they are now signed with Atlantic records who’s artist lineup include everyone from Diddy and Gucci Mane to Paolo Nutini and Jason Mraz. Check out the new album. I’ll probably post a couple songs from it here as well.

White Rabbits - Percussion Gun

Electric Feel by MGMT is one of my favorite songs of all time. I usually don’t like covers of the song but I have a crush on Katy Perry. :) So maybe I am being biased but I like it. Especially the fact that its acoustic! Enjoy!Katy Perry

Parallels - Ultralight

Parallels is Cameron Findlay (drummer, producer), Holly Dodson (vocalist, producer) and Joey Kehoe (synthesizers). Based out of Toronto, Parallels is quickly building a loyal following since their formation in October 2008.

Parallels
Cameron Findlay, is the former drummer of Canadian electro group, Crystal Castles. While on tour in 2007-08, Findlay spent much of his free time recording demos of what would later become the foundation of Parallels’ current repertoire. Through an exchange of email with Holly, half-finished songs he had been working on became their first single “Ultralight”. Cameron returned to Toronto at the end of Crystal Castles’ 2008 tour, and turned his main focus to the development of Parallels. Holly and Cameron continued to write more material, releasing “Ultralight” as a digital single later that year. They found co-writing to be a refreshing break from working solo – each bringing their diverse musical backgrounds to their new project – stemming in ambient electronic music, cold-war new wave, and classical music.

Crystal Castles - Crimewave

I wanted to mention Crystal Castles in anticipation of their sophomore album coming out in June. The Canadian duo basically help the soundtrack to last summer. And they are ready to do it again. The second album will also be called “Crystal Castles” as not to confuse anyone.

Crystal Castles

If you are not familiar with Crystal Castles, they have amazing music videos. I went away from showing that because I think them performing live lets you get a chance to see them. All of the effects and synth pads can easily take away from the performance. It sometimes sounds like Sonic the Hedgehog exploded gold coins all over the album but thats why i like it! I have heard the new album, im actually listening to it right now. And unlike MGMT’s follow-up summer album…Crystal Castles stuck to what works!
